ATI Court Counselor

Job Description

ATI ADULT COURT COUNSELOR

$16.00 per hour + travel and health insurance stipend

Full-time: 32 hrs. per week


NATURE OF WORK

This is responsible social casework in providing direct and referral services to the offender and ex-offender population. The candidate will be trained "On-the-job" on the important field duties and responsibilities that the job entails at Correctional Institutions and Courthouse facilities throughout Miami-Dade County.

An employee in this class receives client referrals from the court for the agency’s program, performs client vetting relative to acceptance into the program, does an evaluation of services needed and/or mandated by the courts and initiates program services.  The employee also prepares and maintains client case records. 

Work will also include providing referral assistance to clients and their families in addressing personal and/or environmental challenges. He or she is able to work independently, reporting to the Adult Services Division Manager.


KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

-Ability to comprehensively interview prospective clients;

-Knowledge of various public assistance programs;

-Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing;

-Ability to maintain required client files and agency records;

-Ability to prepare correspondence and comprehensive reports.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent is required.  Experience in working in a criminal justice and/or social services environment along with some basic computer software knowledge is strongly encouraged, but not required.  Will train. Bi-lingual (english/spanish) candidates are also encouraged to apply. An associate degree or higher may substitute for desired requisite experience.
